The University of Verona, Italy, hosted the X International Symposium on Grapevine Physiology and Biotechnology, one of the most important scientific conferences globally on this subject, at which the results of research giving rise to new winegrowing and oenological practices that will be used to produce wines in the near future are discussed. During the event, two studies that are being conducted by the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) were exhibited.
Specifically, research on the analysis and comparison of Cabernet Sauvignon variety quality parameters carried out in the Cauquenes area was presented by CRI Project Engineer Sebastián Vargas, with a high level of acceptance from the attending scientific community.
“Our participation in the conference generated a lot of interest. Many Chilean researchers were pleasantly surprised by what we are achieving, the issues that we’re addressing and the practical application of our findings, and several have contacted me to evaluate the possibility of collaborating on future projects. Foreign scientists were surprised to see a private company working at this level, and with this degree of commitment to applied research,” said Vargas.
This symposium included the presentation and discussion of research on grapevine physiology and development, environmental and pathogen interactions, genomics, metabolomics and grape quality, among other fields.
